Background
After graduating from the Academy in the Third Shinobi World War’s third year, Shisui was assigned to a genin team with his best friend. Shisui saw his best friend die in a mission shortly after the war ended. He became close friends with Itachi Uchiha at age 5 and formed a brother-like relationship. Shis ui became a genin a year later. He was given the nickname “Shis ui the Body Flicker” by his family. Two years later, Shis ui lost his father to a serious illness. Shis ui knew that everyone dies one day. He was prepared to mourn his loss.
A long mission was given to Team Shis ui in the anime. They were to chase away Kirigakure forces led by Ao. After Ao realized they were facing Shisui, he ordered his team to retreat. Shisui sympathized with Itachi and did not want the Uchiha going to war with the village. The Uchiha grew more violent and angrier due to distrust of the village, so Shisui approached Hiruzen Srutobi to tell the truth to him. Hiruzen trusted Shisui and Kagami Uchiha’s descendant. Hiruzen then allowed the Uchiha spy on his clan to the village. Shis ui was puzzled by the clan’s refusal to stop them from executing the coup d’etat they planned and became very concerned about the consequences. In the end, Shis ui decided to use his Kotoamatsukami from Fugaku Uchiha in order to subtly stop the coup d’etat plan.
As Shis ui was about to make his move, Danzo Shimura realized that manipulating Uchiha’s leader would not end the conflict. He also believed that he would try to manipulate Shisui as well. In his desire to preserve the village, he decided to seize Shisui’s eyes. Shis ui subdued Danzo initially, but the elder was more determined and used the Izanagi along with another Sharingan to free Shis ui. Shisui was able to escape as Danzo and his men surround Shisui in order to seize the left eye.
Shisui gives Itachi his last Eye
Shisui was afraid that Danzo was wrong about Shisui’s inability stop the Uchiha revolt. He also feared that the elder would continue to pursue His left eye. Shis ui sent a suicide note to Itachi telling them that he could not follow through with the coup d’etat. However, his clan’s narrow mindedness prevented them from understanding the contents of the suicide note. It appeared that Shisui had jumped off a cliff into Naka River to drown his eyes. This was to prevent any conflict from occurring within his clan.
Shisui Personality
Shis ui was humble and down to earth. He wasn’t arrogant about his talents or accomplishments but was open to telling others when they were wrong. He was also open-minded and didn’t hold on to one idea. He tried to see the uniqueness of each situation. Shis ui also showed compassion to his enemies and showed kindness to Mukai Kohinata, despite being ordered to assassinate the traitor. Shis ui also showed a keen sense of perceptiveness and intuition. He was able to see past the emotions of others, and was able to spot the smallest details. It was because of his devotion that the police didn’t believe that he could have committed suicide. Itachi, his best friend, believed that if he had been alive during Uchiha’s fall, he would have protected it from all.
